I drove down here 13 hours from NYC to Fort Wayne Indiana, with 3 strangers who are now great friends, to help finish this primary..  WE DID!

About 100 of us Allen county workers packed a Mexican resturant

UPDATE:(We are at $600 Thank you! COME ON FELLOW KOSSACKS lets hit $2008)

MAY 6th 2008:
I’m an NYC resident down in Indiana helping the Obama Campaign.  So after canvassing today I sat down with Benson Onyeji the beautiful man who was generous enough to open up his home here in Fort Wayne Indian to  four complete strangers from NYC.   This diary is a dedication to his wife, who lost her battle with cancer on June 9th 2005.

OFFICIALLY A MOVEMENT

Mon May 05, 2008 at 06:12:54 AM PDT

Barrack decided to have a little "Picnic" in Fort Wayne IN Sunday.  This was last minute thing, announced Saturday morning.  With very little advertising and just canvassers handing out fliers an estimated 4,700 people showed up.      I have a sister who grew in the 60’s I’m 17 years younger so I was a child of the eighties, but I always felt a connection to that time and longed to be a part of a real cultural revolution to more inclusive and peaceful society.   I always felt I had been born two decades too late....    Not anymore.

Clinton can have Rocky we’ll take Rocky IV

Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 10:31:15 PM PDT

First of all, Rocky looses in the first movie.
Secondly, we can do without the subtle black vs. white reminders. (Obama is above that)  Rocky IV, you’ll remember, was the one with Drago the Russian boxer.

Thirdly, the story line is more appropriate.....more below

Ed, it’s the Kool-Aid we’re not drinking

Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 01:36:41 AM PDT

that makes us Obama supporters.

It was fitting that Ed Rendell chose to disparage Obama supporters with his Kool-Aid remark in a focus group session with Frank Luntz   He’s so full of Kool-Aid I half expect him to burst through my kitchen wall any minute.    This is a guy who's been paid millions by the GOP to "shape the language" around their damaging policies.   This is guy who will look at you with a straight face and tell you "The Healthy Forests Initiative", "Death tax", and "Climate Change" are actually "clarifications" not obfuscations.

This is guys who’s job it is to find the most misleading confusing terms to promote and apply to a position or product so that public has no idea what it’s getting.   He is a guru of spin.

Before you pull that lever PA voters.....

Let me tell you about last night

Sat Apr 19, 2008 at 12:48:55 AM PDT

Preface:
I'm an NYC resident that's been heading down to PA's Buck County to canvass.
Just like these guys (Neither one is me):

My gravitation toward Obama started with reading "The Audacity of Hope" several months ago.
After Hillary went negative I became a full on Obamaniac.
You can read my other diaries for those details.  But let me tell you about last night....

SNL Equal Time?

Thu Apr 17, 2008 at 01:28:17 AM PDT

I hope the writers over at SNL take notice of the Disgrace that was the "debate" last night.   They were helpful to Hillary, suggesting that the press had been too soft on Obama.   Now let's see if/how they parody this debate.  I found this link on the SNL site to send messages to SNL Producer Marci Klein:
http://www.nbc.com/...

I sent the following message:

I just witnessed a 90 minute sh!t sandwich that ABC News had the gall to title a "debate".  It was 52 minutes of tabloid journalism, hosted by a former Clinton administration official.  The media seems to be doing all it can to insure the Democratic primary continues past PA. It's great TeeVee after all.    Please be fair and parody this Obama-hit-job farce of a "debate" this Saturday.
Thanks

Punished with a Baby

Sat Apr 12, 2008 at 10:10:08 AM PDT

I'd been hearing about this "Punished with a baby" quote from a town hall meeting in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  I had not seen the whole quote in context yet so I thought I post it.

The question Obama was addressing was on AIDs prevention and his opinion on Abstinence-only education.

"When it comes specifically to HIV/AIDS, the most important prevention is education, which should include -- which should include abstinence education and teaching the children -- teaching children, you know, that sex is not something casual. But it should also include -- it should also include other, you know, information about contraception because, look, I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby. I don't want them punished with an STD at the age of 16. You know, so it doesn't make sense to not give them information."

He was trying to make the point that teaching about condom use not only will help prevent AIDS but also reduce teen pregnancy.  An unfortunate choice of words but I think his opinion is in line with the beliefs of most Americans.
