First of all, Rocky looses in the first movie.
Secondly, we can do without the subtle black vs. white reminders. (Obama is above that) Rocky IV, you’ll remember, was the one with Drago the Russian boxer.
Thirdly, the story line is more appropriate.....more below
Rocky's opposition was a heavily favored, emotionless monster of a boxer (I might have to leave the campaign now :-) , who would do anything (including steroids) to win. Drago, going into the fight, has never been knocked down or cut. His ego and sense of entitlement is his fatal flaw.
Rocky lays the foundation for his eventual victory in the very first round when, although he gets his but kicked, he manages to sting Drago and cut him, shaking his confidence. The Soviets in the movie have taken boxing to a science and Drago is a well trained boxing machine (Think focus groups, and armies of speech writers, and fear politics), but that is all he has.. there’s no heart. Once the fight gets past the technicals, and into the passion and heart of the boxers, Rocky gets his victory. The movie feature strong jingoist, us vs. them, themes, (flag pin anyone?)and in the end Rocky not only defeats Drago but overcomes the divisiveness.
Obama's been ahead so long now we forget HE was the long shot, the HUGE underdog, coming into this race. So Hillary can re-brand her self as Rocky with focus groups, image consultants (those boxing gloves behind her in PA victory speech...coincidence?) and speech writers, but the lack of heart comes though.
She's got nut'n on Obama or his supporters, nut'n. (AY! I'm from NY what can I tell ya.)
On that note..
I'm about to book a room in wheeling WV for this next Friday night. Wheeling, if you don’t know is a little city just off interstate 79 about ½ way between NYC and Indiana.....
Now, anybody got a cot I can use for 4 days?
